#1 of 9 hotels in Uvero Alto by Axel's take. Uvero Alto is #7 of 7 places to stay in Punta Cana. The best hotels in Uvero Alto, ranked · Where to stay in Punta Cana

Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong couples’ escape with standout staff, but unreliable ocean swimming. a luxury adults-only all-inclusive beach resort in Uvero Alto, scored for what it is.

Excellence Punta Cana is a luxury adults-only all-inclusive that makes a strong case for staying put: landscaped grounds, spacious suites, generous dining choices and a relaxed, couples-focused atmosphere. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, clean rooms and well-kept property. We'd pick it for a honeymoon or an easy week alternating between pool loungers and beach walks.

The biggest catch is the sea: guests across several sites describe rough surf that can prevent swimming, while seaweed varies with conditions. Dining earns plenty of praise, but detailed reviews also describe uneven meals and restaurant schedules that limit the advertised choice. Excellence Club reserves two of the four pools and some dining areas for upgraded bookings. We'd skip it if calm-water swimming, consistently refined food or late-night partying defines your holiday.

  • Best for: honeymooners and couples; relaxed pool-and-beach holidays; travelers who prioritize friendly service

  • Watch out for: rough surf can prevent ocean swimming; uneven dining and rotating restaurant openings; some pools and dining require Excellence Club

  • Location: Secluded Uvero Alto beachfront, roughly 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport; better for staying onsite than exploring on foot.

  • Rooms: Spacious suites with furnished outdoor space and jetted tubs; swim-up and private-pool categories are available.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent Tripadvisor and Expedia feedback, covering rooms and grounds.

  • Service: Warm, attentive staff are the clearest recurring highlight; occasional dining delays temper the praise.

  • Amenities: Four outdoor pools, including two Club-only pools, plus a gym, tennis, Miilé Spa and nightly entertainment.

  • Fees and surprises: Club access requires an upgraded booking; some activities cost extra. The supplied Barceló website belongs to a different hotel.
