Room to spread out, but cleanliness and maintenance make this a risky budget pick. A basic 2-star motel with unusually spacious rooms in an aging former Embassy Suites, scored for what it is.

This is a basic 2-star Motel 6 in a former Embassy Suites, not the Embassy Suites still named in some older listings. Its strongest arguments are spacious, suite-style rooms, free parking and staff whom Expedia guests frequently praise. For a short, budget-conscious stay near Phoenix Children’s Hospital, those are useful advantages—but we wouldn’t make it a first choice.

The problem is more than dated decor. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly describe dirty carpets, unpleasant smells and neglected bathrooms; air-conditioning complaints also recur across sites. Some guests report clean, comfortable stays, but the inconsistency is hard to overlook even at this level. Booking.com’s weak overall rating reinforces that concern. We’d skip it for a summer stay or whenever dependable cleanliness matters more than extra space. Pet owners should confirm charges and deposits before booking.

• Best for: Budget travelers prioritizing room size; Short stays near Phoenix Children’s Hospital

• Watch out for: Recurring cleanliness and odor complaints; Inconsistent air conditioning and maintenance; Confirm pet charges and deposits

• Location: Close to Phoenix Children’s Hospital; airport access requires transportation.

• Rooms: Spacious suite-style layouts, but furnishings and bathrooms draw repeated maintenance complaints.

• Cleanliness: Some guests report clean rooms, but dirty carpets, odors and bathroom problems recur.

• Service: Friendly front-desk staff are a consistent bright spot, though problem resolution varies.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, free parking and Wi-Fi are listed; guests report occasional Wi-Fi and elevator failures.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists pet fees, a pet deposit and paid early check-in; confirm terms directly.
