Hotels in Philadelphiaa historic 3-star boutique inn near Washington Square
9.1/10
A strong historic-inn choice, with standout hospitality and stairs worth taking seriously.
Morris House is a historic 3-star boutique inn, not a miniature luxury hotel—and it's an excellent choice in that frame. Set in a house dating to 1787 near Washington Square, it pairs period character with a genuinely useful sightseeing location. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, comfortable rooms and the personal welcome; cleanliness is another strong signal. Included continental breakfast and afternoon tea with cookies add to the appeal for couples and history-minded travelers.
The biggest compromise is access: there's no elevator, and guests describe steep, shallow stairs to upper rooms. Breakfast is continental rather than an elaborate spread, and drivers use a paid public garage across the street. We'd choose it for character and attentive service, but skip it if step-free access or standardized, full-service hotel facilities are essential.
