Hotels in Parisa simple 3-star near Gare de l’Est and Gare du Nord
7.3/10
A practical rail-station base with welcoming staff, but uneven rooms and awkward stairs.
Kabanel is a simple 3-star near Gare de l’Est and Gare du Nord, best treated as a practical base rather than a boutique escape. We’d pick it for a short, transport-focused stay: Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, while breakfast and complimentary lobby coffee earn regular mentions. The overall picture is good rather than outstanding, with convenience doing much of the work.
The trade-off is consistency. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia reviews describe dated fittings, occasional housekeeping lapses and unreliable air conditioning, alongside plenty of clean, comfortable stays. Standard doubles are compact, and the rear building has no lift; even the main building’s lift arrangement can involve stairs. Confirm your room’s access before booking if mobility or heavy luggage is a concern. We’d skip it if polished rooms and dependable step-free access matter most.

Best for: rail travelers on short stays; value-minded city explorers; friends needing triple rooms
Watch out for: rear building has no lift; uneven room upkeep and housekeeping; some guests report air-conditioning problems
Location: Walkable to both mainline stations, with nearby metro links and plenty of places to eat.
Rooms: Standard doubles are 14 m²; larger categories exist, but recent guests report inconsistent condition.
Cleanliness: Generally positive overall, though recent reviews include housekeeping and bedding complaints.
Service: Helpful, welcoming reception staff are the most consistent strength; reception operates around the clock.
Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, lobby coffee and water, luggage storage and an optional breakfast buffet.
Fees and surprises: Breakfast costs extra unless included; small pets incur a supplement, and lift access is not universal.
