Axel's take: 7.7/10

Choose Zoso for downtown convenience and pool time, not polished luxury. a nightlife-oriented 4-star hotel in downtown Palm Springs, scored for what it is.

Hotel Zoso is a nightlife-oriented 4-star whose strongest selling point is its downtown address, steps from restaurants, shops and Arenas District bars. We'd pick it for a sociable weekend rather than a pampered resort escape. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, spacious rooms and friendly staff, while Tripadvisor feedback is more mixed. The outdoor pool, hot tub and walk-everywhere location make a persuasive combination.

The compromises are uneven room upkeep, recurring summer air-conditioning complaints and a lively atmosphere that won't suit every sleeper. Dining is limited: the hotel currently advertises lounge bites and a weekend breakfast cart, not full restaurant service. Housekeeping during your stay is by request, and a mandatory resort fee applies. We'd skip it if dependable cooling, quiet nights or consistently polished four-star service are priorities.

• Best for: friends on a downtown weekend; couples exploring restaurants and nightlife; travelers who prefer walking to driving

• Watch out for: summer air-conditioning complaints; uneven room condition and potential noise; limited dining and request-only housekeeping

• Location: Excellent for walking to downtown dining, shopping and Arenas District nightlife.

• Rooms: Generously sized, but recent reviews flag dated finishes and inconsistent air-conditioning.

• Cleanliness: Recent Expedia feedback is strongly positive; some Tripadvisor and Trip.com guests report odors or worn carpets.

• Service: Friendly staff earn frequent praise, though service delivery is less consistent across sites.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, hot tub, 24-hour gym, on-site spa and airport shuttle; food and bar hours are limited.

• Fees and surprises: Mandatory resort fee includes one vehicle's parking, Wi-Fi and airport shuttle; incidental authorization and dog fees apply.
