#7 of 9 hotels in Uptown & Movie Colony by Axel's take. Uptown & Movie Colony is #3 of 5 places to stay in Palm Springs. The best hotels in Uptown & Movie Colony, ranked · Where to stay in Palm Springs

Axel's take: 7.8/10

Good-value Palm Springs character, with inviting outdoor spaces but uneven room upkeep. A budget, motel-style inn with retro décor and kitchen suites, scored for what it is.

7 Springs is a budget, motel-style inn that makes sense for travelers who want Palm Springs character without resort frills. Its Uptown location puts restaurants and coffee shops nearby, with central downtown a longer walk away. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, pool and oversized hot tub. Rooms offer microwaves and mini-fridges, while kitchen suites make longer stays practical. We'd shortlist it for an affordable, laid-back base.

The catch is inconsistent upkeep. Recent reviews across sites describe worn furniture, tired bathrooms and occasional musty smells, alongside plenty of reports of clean, comfortable rooms. Air-conditioning performance also varies in guest accounts. Free parking helps, but spaces can be tight; there's no elevator, and reception closes overnight. We'd skip it if polished rooms, dependable overnight assistance or step-free access are priorities.

  • Best for: Budget-conscious couples; Families wanting kitchen suites; Travelers who enjoy poolside downtime

  • Watch out for: Uneven room condition and maintenance; No elevator; verify accessibility directly; Limited parking and overnight reception

  • Location: Uptown Design District, near dining; central downtown is a longer walk.

  • Rooms: Useful kitchen options and generally comfortable rooms, but recurring wear and occasional AC complaints.

  • Cleanliness: Mostly positive feedback, tempered by reports of musty smells and neglected details.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff earn frequent praise; reception operates limited hours.

  • Amenities: Outdoor pool, two hot tubs, barbecue grills, free Wi-Fi and kitchen-equipped suites.

  • Fees and surprises: Free parking; a deposit is required, with extra charges for cribs, rollaways and late checkout.
