Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong family-friendly base if a pool and parking matter more than being central. a traditional mid-range hotel with gardens and a pool outside Oaxaca’s historic core, scored for what it is.

Hotel Hacienda is a traditional mid-range hotel whose gardens, outdoor pool and free parking make it a strong pick for families and travelers with a car. It delivers the basics well: Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise cleanliness and helpful staff, while recent reviews highlight well-kept grounds and comfortable, good-sized rooms. We'd choose it for practical comfort rather than boutique polish.

The trade-off is being outside the historic core: allow roughly 20–25 minutes to walk into the busiest sightseeing area, or take a taxi. Noise deserves attention, too—recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests mention road noise or sound from communal areas. Ask for a room away from both, and confirm air-conditioning rather than assuming it. We'd skip it if doorstep sightseeing, reliably quiet nights or elevator access are essential.

• Best for: families who want a pool; travelers exploring by car; value-minded leisure travelers

• Watch out for: road and communal-area noise; walk or taxi to the historic core; no elevator; confirm room cooling

• Location: Outside the historic core; some guests report a 20–25-minute walk to the busiest central area.

• Rooms: Traditional rooms earn comfort praise; cooling varies between air-conditioning and ceiling fans.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com and Expedia, including recent guest comments.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff receive repeated praise, particularly at reception.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, children’s pool, gardens, restaurant and free Wi-Fi; no elevator.

• Fees and surprises: Self-parking is free but listed as limited and on request; airport drop-off and area shuttles cost extra.
