#9 of 9 hotels in Downtown Niagara Falls (US Side) by Axel's take. Downtown Niagara Falls (US Side) is #3 of 5 places to stay in Niagara Falls. The best hotels in Downtown Niagara Falls (US Side), ranked · Where to stay in Niagara Falls

Axel's take: 6.7/10

The location delivers, but housekeeping and maintenance need to catch up. a basic 3-star chain hotel within walking distance of the falls, scored for what it is.

Wingate is a basic 3-star downtown hotel whose strongest selling point is the walk to Niagara Falls State Park and Seneca Niagara casino. We'd consider it for a short sightseeing trip if convenience matters more than polish. Recent Expedia guests often praise helpful staff and comfortable beds; included hot breakfast, an indoor pool and a gym round out the practical package.

The sticking point is consistency. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly describe dirty bathrooms, worn fittings and neglected maintenance, alongside plenty of satisfactory stays. Breakfast earns both praise and complaints about quality and crowding, and parking costs extra. It's a workable base for travelers spending most of the day out, but we'd skip it if dependable cleanliness and fresh-feeling rooms are priorities.

  • Best for: short sightseeing stays; travelers prioritizing walkability

  • Watch out for: inconsistent bathroom and room cleaning; worn fittings and maintenance problems; paid parking

  • Location: The walk to the state park and nearby casino is the clearest reason to choose it.

  • Rooms: Beds often earn praise, but recent guests repeatedly report worn fittings and maintenance faults.

  • Cleanliness: Mixed rather than reliably clean; bathroom and hallway complaints recur across review sites.

  • Service: Many recent guests describe friendly, helpful front-desk staff, though experiences vary.

  • Amenities: The hotel lists included hot breakfast, a heated indoor pool, a gym and a game room.

  • Fees and surprises: On-site parking carries an extra charge; do not assume it is included.
