Axel's take: 7.7/10

An excellent sightseeing base, provided you can forgive dated rooms and uneven housekeeping. a no-frills hotel at the entrance to Niagara Falls State Park, scored for what it is.

Comfort Inn The Pointe is a no-frills hotel whose biggest selling point is genuinely useful: Niagara Falls State Park is across the street, with Maid of the Mist an easy walk away. We'd pick it for a short sightseeing trip rather than a hotel-centered getaway. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests frequently describe clean, comfortable rooms, and the included breakfast makes early starts easier.

The building feels tired, though, and complaints about thin walls, missed housekeeping and inconsistent responses from staff recur on Tripadvisor. Breakfast seating can also be tight. Parking costs extra, and the hotel requires a credit card and an incidental hold. It's a good practical base, but we'd skip it if quiet nights, polished interiors or dependable daily housekeeping are priorities.

• Best for: short sightseeing stays; travelers exploring the American falls on foot; families wanting included breakfast

• Watch out for: dated interiors and thin walls; inconsistent housekeeping; paid parking and an incidental hold

• Location: Across from the state park entrance; Maid of the Mist is within easy walking distance.

• Rooms: Often described as comfortable but dated; several guests report noise through adjoining walls.

• Cleanliness: Many recent guests praise clean rooms, but missed cleaning and replenishment remain recurring complaints.

• Service: Recent Expedia guests frequently praise helpful staff; Tripadvisor shows less consistent problem handling.

• Amenities: Included breakfast, free Wi-Fi and a fitness room; breakfast seating can be limited.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is charged separately; published parking fees differ by site, so confirm directly. Credit card and incidental hold required.
