Axel's take: 8.1/10

Historic character and helpful staff near the Falls, with some wear showing. a historic 3-star boutique hotel near the American Falls, scored for what it is.

The Giacomo is a historic 3-star boutique hotel whose strongest selling points are character, friendly service and an easy walk to Niagara Falls State Park. We'd pick it over a generic chain if you like ornate interiors and roomy accommodations. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the staff, comfortable beds and convenient location. The 19th-floor Skyview Lounge adds a worthwhile vantage point, while complimentary gated parking is a practical bonus.

The catch is uneven upkeep: worn carpets, peeling wallpaper and tired furnishings recur across reviews, though cleanliness feedback remains broadly positive. Breakfast is not universally included; check your reservation rather than relying on older reviews. Neighboring Hotel Niagara is undergoing restoration, so ask about potential construction disturbance. We'd skip this if you want freshly renovated rooms or polished luxury.

• Best for: couples who enjoy historic hotels; visitors exploring the American Falls on foot; drivers seeking complimentary parking

• Watch out for: worn carpets and dated finishes; breakfast may cost extra; neighboring Hotel Niagara restoration

• Location: Walkable to Niagara Falls State Park, Maid of the Mist and Seneca Niagara Casino.

• Rooms: Guests often praise spacious rooms and comfortable beds; finishes show uneven wear.

• Cleanliness: Generally positive ratings, with some housekeeping lapses and stained-carpet complaints.

• Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk and bar staff are consistent strengths across recent reviews.

• Amenities: Skyview Lounge, cocktail bar, fitness center, free Wi-Fi and in-room refrigerators.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast inclusion varies; pet fees apply, and complimentary gated parking is limited.
