#2 of 6 hotels in Lungomare & Santa Lucia by Axel's take. Lungomare & Santa Lucia is #4 of 7 places to stay in Naples. The best hotels in Lungomare & Santa Lucia, ranked · Where to stay in Naples

Axel's take: 8.6/10

Classic waterfront luxury with excellent hospitality, but nearby construction needs checking. a historic five-star luxury hotel on Naples’ waterfront, scored for what it is.

Grand Hotel Vesuvio is a historic five-star on Naples’ waterfront, and a strong pick for travelers who prefer traditional elegance to contemporary design. Its strongest assets are the bay-facing setting, rooftop dining and attentive hospitality. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the breakfast, comfortable rooms and helpful staff; cleanliness also scores strongly on Booking.com. We'd choose a sea-view category to make the most of the location.

The caveats matter at this level: entry-level Classic Queen rooms are compact and face internal courtyards, while some guests find aspects of the rooms dated. The hotel flags roadworks nearby, and Expedia also warns of neighboring-building construction. Pool access requires booking and follows limited Monday–Saturday hours. We'd skip it for minimalist interiors or an unrestricted pool-focused stay.

Best for: couples seeking traditional luxury; travelers prioritizing waterfront views; sightseers who value concierge service
Watch out for: nearby roadworks and building construction; compact, courtyard-facing entry rooms; restricted pool hours and advance booking
Location: Opposite Castel dell’Ovo, with Piazza del Plebiscito and the opera house nearby.
Rooms: Traditional décor; Classic Queen rooms are about 20 square meters and overlook courtyards.
Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent guest feedback and major-site category ratings.
Service: Warm, professional staff and concierge assistance draw repeated praise, with occasional exceptions.
Amenities: Rooftop restaurant and bar, indoor pool, sauna and gym; pool sessions require reservations.
Fees and surprises: Garage parking costs extra and requires booking; nearby construction may cause disturbance.
