#3 of 5 hotels in Chiaia by Axel's take. Chiaia is #6 of 7 places to stay in Naples. The best hotels in Chiaia, ranked · Where to stay in Naples
Axel's take: 8.5/10
Beautiful bay views and polished rooms, but rooftop access comes with strings attached. a historic 5-star boutique hotel on the hills above Chiaia, scored for what it is.
De Bonart is a historic 5-star boutique hotel above Chiaia, and we'd choose it for the bay views, contemporary rooms and rooftop breakfast rather than doorstep sightseeing. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise the cleanliness, helpful staff and breakfast; Tripadvisor feedback also highlights the building and terraces. It's a strong pick for couples who want a quieter base and don't mind planning their journeys into central Naples.
The main catch is the rooftop water feature: Hilton describes a hot tub, not a proper swimming pool, and guests on multiple sites report paid, reservation-only access. That's a frustrating extra at this level. The hillside setting also means uphill walks or taxis after exploring. We'd skip it if you want an inclusive pool-focused stay or easy, flat walks to the historic center.
-
Best for: couples prioritizing bay views; travelers seeking a quieter luxury base; rooftop breakfast enthusiasts
-
Watch out for: paid, reservation-only rooftop access; hillside walks and taxi dependence; hot tub rather than a full swimming pool
-
Location: Elevated Chiaia setting favors views over immediate access to the historic center.
-
Rooms: Contemporary, well-appointed rooms; book an explicitly named sea-view category if the outlook matters.
-
Cleanliness: A clear strength across guest feedback, with strong cleanliness ratings on Expedia and Tripadvisor.
-
Service: Recent reviews mostly praise accommodating, professional staff, though some describe uneven attention.
-
Amenities: Rooftop dining, fitness center and spa; the rooftop hot tub is not a conventional swimming pool.
-
Fees and surprises: Confirm rooftop access charges and availability; valet parking costs extra and breakfast depends on the booking.
