Axel's take: 7.3/10

Helpful staff and a handy Khar location outweigh some uneven rooms. a simple independent 3-star in Khar West, scored for what it is.

Oriental Residency is a simple independent 3-star in Khar West, best treated as a practical neighborhood base rather than a hotel to linger in. We'd consider it for Linking Road shopping, nearby medical appointments and access to Bandra. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful reception and restaurant teams, and Soul restaurant is a genuine strength. It's a reasonable pick if location and personal service matter more than polished interiors.

Room condition is the catch. Plenty of guests report clean, comfortable stays, but complaints about dated fittings, cramped bathrooms and occasional mould recur across sites. The hotel now advertises newly renovated Cozy Premium rooms; we'd request one explicitly. Wi-Fi also draws complaints. Renovation noise was reported in late 2025, and completion isn't independently confirmed, so check before booking. We'd skip it if consistently fresh rooms or dependable connectivity are essential.

• Best for: Linking Road shoppers; nearby medical appointments; practical Khar and Bandra stays

• Watch out for: Uneven room condition and small bathrooms; Unreliable Wi-Fi; Confirm renovation work has finished

• Location: Convenient for Linking Road, local restaurants and Khar Road station.

• Rooms: Compact entry rooms; newly renovated Cozy Premium categories offer a more promising option.

• Cleanliness: Many positive reports, but recurring bathroom mould and housekeeping complaints prevent a wholehearted recommendation.

• Service: Helpful reception and restaurant staff are the most consistent strengths across review sites.

• Amenities: Soul restaurant, breakfast, room service and parking cover the practical basics.

• Fees and surprises: Airport transfers cost extra; Wi-Fi fee listings conflict with the hotel's free-Wi-Fi claim, so confirm inclusions.
