Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong downtown base with comfortable rooms, skyline views and direct metro access. a renovated, full-service 4-star downtown high-rise, scored for what it is.

This renovated, full-service 4-star is a strong pick for downtown convenience without sacrificing comfort. Its arched windows give the rooms character, especially on higher floors. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff; Booking.com’s strong cleanliness and comfort ratings reinforce that picture. Direct access to Bonaventure metro, nearby Central Station and an easy walk to Bell Centre make it particularly practical for train arrivals and event nights.

The trade-offs are mostly extras and expectations: parking and hotel dining are expensive, and some Tripadvisor guests describe uneven restaurant or concierge service. There is no swimming pool, despite outdated listings, and Marriott currently lists Terrasse Belvu as closed for the season. We’d skip it if a pool or an Old Montreal doorstep matters more than downtown transport connections.

• Best for: train arrivals and car-free city breaks; Bell Centre eventgoers; business travelers

• Watch out for: no swimming pool; parking and dining costs; Terrasse Belvu closed for the season

• Location: Direct Bonaventure metro access, close to Central Station and Bell Centre; downtown rather than Old Montreal.

• Rooms: Updated rooms with comfortable beds and distinctive arched windows; higher floors are the pick for views.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest feedback and Booking.com and Expedia category ratings.

• Service: Generally warm and helpful, with some less consistent concierge and restaurant experiences.

• Amenities: Well-equipped gym, sauna, Lloyd restaurant and an access-controlled M Club lounge; no pool.

• Fees and surprises: Parking costs extra, with no in-and-out privileges listed for self-parking; check breakfast and lounge inclusions.
