Axel's take: 8.3/10

A comfortable downtown base, especially for Bell Centre trips, with a few practical caveats. A large, renovated 4-star business hotel in downtown Montreal, scored for what it is.

Le Centre Sheraton is a large, renovated 4-star business hotel that makes downtown Montreal easy. We'd pick it for Bell Centre events, shopping and straightforward comfort rather than boutique character. Expedia's recent guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff; Tripadvisor feedback is more mixed but backs the location's convenience. The indoor pool, substantial gym and skyline-view Club Lounge give it more appeal than a basic business stop.

The trade-offs are scale and extras: some Tripadvisor guests describe compact rooms, noise and busy check-in periods. The hotel currently confirms that the hot tub is closed, despite still promoting it elsewhere on its website. Parking and standard breakfast cost extra, and Club Lounge access isn't included with every room. We'd skip it for an intimate atmosphere or if a working hot tub is essential.

• Best for: Bell Centre sports and concert trips; Downtown business travelers; Shoppers wanting a full-service base

• Watch out for: Hot tub temporarily closed; Some rooms feel compact or noisy; Parking, breakfast and lounge-access extras

• Location: Walkable downtown setting near the Bell Centre, Sainte-Catherine Street and Peel and Bonaventure metro stations.

• Rooms: Renovated rooms earn strong comfort feedback, though some guests find them small or hear outside and elevator noise.

• Cleanliness: A clear strength: recent Expedia reviews repeatedly praise housekeeping and clean rooms.

• Service: Helpful staff dominate Expedia feedback; Tripadvisor also records complaints about check-in and problem handling.

• Amenities: Indoor pool, 24-hour gym, Stanley restaurant and restricted-access Club Lounge; the hot tub is currently closed.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and standard breakfast are extra; the garage has a six-foot height limit. Confirm Wi-Fi inclusion for your booking.
