Axel's take: 9.2/10

A characterful Old Montreal base with standout staff and thoughtful everyday comforts. a retro mid-range boutique hotel and mini-museum in Old Montreal, scored for what it is.

Uville is a mid-range boutique hotel and mini-museum, built around Montreal’s 1960s and ’70s rather than generic hotel decor. It’s an excellent pick for exploring Old Montreal on foot: the waterfront, museums and restaurants are close by. Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the cleanliness, comfortable beds and unusually helpful staff. In-room turntables, vinyl records and archival films give the theme substance, while included breakfast delivered to your door adds practical value.

The trade-offs are modest but worth knowing. Breakfast is a continental box, not a substantial cooked spread, and parking is paid and off-site. Some guests find clothing storage limited, making Uville better suited to a city break than a long unpack-and-settle stay. We’d choose it for personality and attentive service; skip it if convenient on-site parking or a big breakfast buffet matters most.

• Best for: couples exploring Old Montreal; music and design enthusiasts; car-free city breaks

• Watch out for: paid off-site parking; continental breakfast rather than a cooked buffet; limited clothing storage in some rooms

• Location: Walkable Old Montreal setting by Place d’Youville, close to the waterfront, museums and restaurants.

• Rooms: Retro-themed rooms with turntables, mini-fridges and coffeemakers; beds and showers draw strong praise.

• Cleanliness: Consistently praised across recent guest reviews, with particularly strong cleanliness ratings.

• Service: Friendly, accommodating staff are one of the clearest recurring strengths across sites.

• Amenities: Included breakfast, free Wi-Fi and U67 café/bar; the official site allows pets in designated ground-floor rooms—confirm availability directly.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is nearby rather than on-site and costs extra; confirm arrangements before driving.
