Axel's take: 9.0/10

A strong city base that gets the important things right a comfort-focused 3-star beside Montreal’s convention centre, scored for what it is.

Le Dauphin is a comfort-focused 3-star beside the Palais des congrès, and a strong pick for exploring Montreal without paying for luxury extras. Recent Expedia, Booking.com and Tripadvisor guests consistently praise clean, spacious rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff. Old Montreal and metro stations are close, while included continental breakfast makes mornings straightforward. For this class, it delivers unusually well.

The trade-offs are mostly about taste and convenience. Exposed concrete gives some rooms an industrial feel, and several Tripadvisor guests flag glass bathroom partitions that may not provide enough privacy. Breakfast earns plenty of praise, but expect continental choices rather than a substantial hot buffet. Parking is off-site and costs extra. We’d choose it for sightseeing or a conference, but skip it if traditional décor or bathroom privacy is essential.

• Best for: conference attendees; couples exploring on foot; travelers prioritizing comfort and value

• Watch out for: glass bathroom partitions in some rooms; paid off-site parking; continental rather than full hot breakfast

• Location: Beside the Palais des congrès, with Old Montreal and metro stations a short walk away.

• Rooms: Guests repeatedly praise space, beds and showers; industrial styling and bathroom glass divide opinion.

• Cleanliness: A clear strength across recent reviews, supported by high cleanliness ratings.

• Service: Recent guests consistently describe friendly, helpful staff and straightforward check-in.

• Amenities: Included continental breakfast, free Wi-Fi and a gym cover the practical essentials.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is nearby rather than on-site and carries an additional charge.
