Axel's take: 8.3/10

A characterful city base with spacious rooms, but light sleepers should choose carefully. an independent, art-focused 4-star boutique hotel in Montreal’s entertainment district, scored for what it is.

Hotel 10 is an independent 4-star boutique hotel at Sherbrooke and Saint-Laurent, and it’s a strong pick for exploring Montreal on foot. Local artwork gives it personality without sacrificing practical comforts: generously sized rooms, Nespresso machines and substantial bathrooms. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise cleanliness, comfortable beds and helpful staff. We’d choose it for a city break built around restaurants, festivals and neighbourhood wandering rather than full-service luxury.

The main trade-off is noise: recent guests still mention disturbances, and management acknowledges the surrounding nightlife can carry indoors. Some visitors also flag cosmetic wear, although the broader feedback on room condition remains positive. Breakfast and underground valet parking generally cost extra. If uninterrupted sleep matters more than a lively location, we’d look elsewhere; otherwise, this is a very good boutique option.

• Best for: couples on a city break; restaurant and festival explorers; travelers who like art-focused hotels

• Watch out for: nightlife and street noise; breakfast and valet parking usually extra; occasional cosmetic wear

• Location: Lively Sherbrooke–Saint-Laurent corner, within walking distance of the entertainment district and metro.

• Rooms: Generous room sizes, Nespresso machines and comfortable beds; some guests note cosmetic wear.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest reviews and major booking-site category ratings.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff earn repeated praise, despite occasional reports of uneven attention.

• Amenities: Gym, breakfast restaurant, BAR20, terrace and spa treatments; dining service has limited hours.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast and underground valet parking generally cost extra; garage height restrictions apply.
