Hotels in Montgomery, AlabamaA basic 3-star extended-stay hotel with apartment-style suites
6.4/10
Generous suite space and helpful staff, but cleaning and upkeep are too inconsistent.
Sonesta ES Suites Montgomery is a basic 3-star extended-stay hotel whose strongest selling point is space: apartment-style suites, full kitchens and two-bedroom options make sharing easier. Free parking and Wi-Fi add practical value, and Expedia guests frequently praise helpful staff and comfortable beds. It's a workable option if cooking facilities and separate bedrooms matter more than a polished setting.
The hesitation is consistency. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly describe worn interiors, inadequate cleaning and maintenance problems, although others report clean, comfortable rooms. These aren't just complaints about dated decor; dirty sofa beds and kitchenware undermine the self-catering appeal. Don't count on breakfast: recent Expedia guests report none despite some listings advertising it. We'd skip it for a reliably spotless vacation stay; drivers needing extra space may accept the compromises.

Best for: drivers needing extra suite space; longer stays with self-catering needs; groups wanting separate bedrooms
Watch out for: inconsistent cleaning and maintenance; breakfast listings conflict with recent guest reports; upper-floor suites may require stairs
Location: Near I-85 and the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts; better suited to drivers than downtown sightseeing on foot.
Rooms: Spacious kitchen-equipped suites, but recurring reports of worn furnishings and broken fixtures.
Cleanliness: Mixed: clean-room praise sits alongside repeated complaints about bathrooms, sofas and kitchenware.
Service: Helpful, friendly staff are a recurring strength, though not every interaction gets good marks.
Amenities: Sonesta lists a seasonal outdoor pool, gym, laundry and grills; confirm pool availability before booking.
Fees and surprises: Parking is free; pet fees and a check-in deposit apply, and Expedia lists weekly housekeeping.
