Axel's take: 8.8/10

A strong downtown pick for spacious rooms, helpful staff and Skyway convenience. An upscale, full-service downtown hotel connected to the Minneapolis Skyway, scored for what it is.

The Marquette is an upscale downtown hotel attached to the IDS Center, and a strong pick for business trips or a theater-and-sports weekend. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the spacious rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff; Booking.com’s ratings also show cleanliness as a particular strength. The Skyway connection and proximity to downtown venues make the location genuinely useful, especially in cold weather.

The trade-offs are mostly practical rather than serious shortcomings: parking and breakfast cost extra, and there’s no pool or airport shuttle. On-site dining, a lounge and a 24-hour gym cover the city-hotel basics well. We’d choose it for room comfort and downtown convenience, but skip it if a pool or an all-included stay matters more.

• Best for: Downtown business travelers; Theater and sports weekends; Travelers who appreciate spacious rooms

• Watch out for: Parking and breakfast cost extra; No swimming pool; No hotel airport shuttle

• Location: IDS Center and Skyway access, with theaters and major downtown sports venues nearby.

• Rooms: Guests consistently praise generous space, comfortable beds and bright corner rooms.

• Cleanliness: A standout across Booking.com ratings and recent Expedia guest feedback.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff earn repeated praise across several review sites.

• Amenities: On-site dining, lounge, room service and a 24-hour gym; no pool.

• Fees and surprises: Paid parking and breakfast; pet fee and nightly security deposit apply, but no destination fee.
