Axel's take: 8.2/10

A strong downtown base with spacious rooms, but summer cooling needs improvement. a historic 4-star boutique hotel in downtown Minneapolis, scored for what it is.

Hyatt Centric is a historic 4-star boutique hotel that makes a strong base for downtown concerts, games and business trips. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the spacious, clean rooms and friendly staff, while the central location puts major venues within walking distance. The substantial gym and SIX15 bar and restaurant give it more substance than a room-only city stop. We'd shortlist it for a car-free weekend.

The clearest drawback is cooling: several summer 2026 Tripadvisor reviews describe rooms that stayed warm despite maintenance visits or room changes. That matters at this level, even against otherwise strong guest ratings. Parking also takes planning: there's no valet, and guests report confusing garage access and separate charges. We'd look elsewhere if reliable cold air or effortless parking is essential; breakfast also costs extra unless included in your booking.

• Best for: car-free concert and sports weekends; downtown business travelers; travelers who prioritize a substantial gym

• Watch out for: repeated summer air-conditioning complaints; paid self-parking with confusing garage access; breakfast not automatically included

• Location: Central downtown setting, with walkable event venues, nearby light rail and skyway access.

• Rooms: Generally spacious and comfortable; repeated summer 2026 reports flag inadequate cooling.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guest feedback.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff attract frequent praise, including assistance with room changes.

• Amenities: Large fitness center, free Wi-Fi and SIX15 restaurant/bar; no pool.

• Fees and surprises: Parking, breakfast and pets carry charges; no valet, and daily housekeeping is available on request.
