#1 of 9 hotels in Downtown & Deer District by Axel's take. Downtown & Deer District is #2 of 5 places to stay in Milwaukee. The best hotels in Downtown & Deer District, ranked · Where to stay in Milwaukee

Axel's take: 9.1/10

Brewery character, spacious suites and consistently strong hospitality make this a standout. a historic mid-range all-suite hotel in a former Pabst brewery, scored for what it is.

The Brewhouse is a historic mid-range all-suite hotel that delivers more personality than the usual city stay. Original copper brewing kettles, exposed brick and high ceilings give the former Pabst brewery real character, while in-room kitchenettes make it practical. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the spacious, clean rooms and welcoming staff. It’s a particularly strong pick for brewery weekends and events at nearby Fiserv Forum.

The trade-offs are mostly practical: breakfast costs extra, valet parking adds to the bill, and self-parking means using a garage about a block away. The Brewery District location suits beer stops and arena outings better than a lakefront-focused trip. We'd skip it if you want full-service luxury; for travelers who prefer useful space and Milwaukee history, it's an excellent choice.

  • Best for: beer and architecture enthusiasts; Fiserv Forum eventgoers; longer stays needing a kitchenette

  • Watch out for: breakfast costs extra; paid valet or off-site garage parking; nightly incidental card hold

  • Location: Brewery District, west of downtown and within walking distance of Fiserv Forum.

  • Rooms: Industrial-style suites with kitchenettes; space and character earn consistent praise.

  • Cleanliness: Strong recent feedback across Tripadvisor and Expedia, rather than a recurring cleanliness concern.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a repeated highlight, with occasional attentiveness lapses.

  • Amenities: On Tap restaurant and bar, fitness room, free Wi-Fi and in-room kitchenettes.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast and parking cost extra; the hotel requires an incidental card hold for each night.
