Axel's take: 8.8/10

Standout staff and dependable comfort make this a strong downtown base. a full-service 4-star business hotel beside the Baird Center, scored for what it is.

This full-service 4-star beside the Baird Center is a strong pick for convention trips and downtown events. Its appeal is dependable comfort rather than luxury: Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and unusually helpful staff. In-room microwaves and refrigerators add practical value, while Fiserv Forum is about half a mile away. We'd choose it for an easy, well-supported stay rather than a design-led getaway.

The trade-offs are mostly practical. On-site parking is paid valet only, and breakfast generally costs extra unless included in your booking. Some guests find the decor dated or rooms compact, although recent reviews also praise refreshed rooms. The restaurant, gym and seasonal sundeck cover the basics well. We'd skip it if free parking, included breakfast or boutique character are priorities.

• Best for: Baird Center convention attendees; Bucks fans and concertgoers; business travelers who value helpful service

• Watch out for: paid valet-only on-site parking; breakfast usually costs extra; some rooms feel compact or dated

• Location: Across from the Baird Center, with Fiserv Forum about half a mile away.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds, microwaves and refrigerators; room size and perceived freshness vary.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent reviews on multiple sites.

• Service: The standout: repeated praise for welcoming, helpful front-desk and valet staff.

• Amenities: Restaurant and bar, fitness center, free Wi-Fi and a seasonal sundeck.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast is generally extra; paid valet allows in/out privileges, with one car per room.
