#3 of 9 hotels in Porta Venezia by Axel's take. Porta Venezia is #7 of 11 places to stay in Milan. The best hotels in Porta Venezia, ranked · Where to stay in Milan

Axel's take: 8.1/10

A dependable Milan base, strongest on staff and breakfast rather than contemporary style. a traditional 4-star city hotel near Porta Venezia, scored for what it is.

NH Milano Machiavelli is a traditional four-star city hotel that gets the practical things mostly right. We'd choose it for helpful staff, generally clean, comfortable rooms and easy access to Milan by tram or metro. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the breakfast and restaurant team, while Booking.com guests also highlight the location and room comfort. It's a strong pick for sightseeing or a straightforward business stay.

The main compromise is condition: several guests describe tired décor, and some report minor maintenance problems. Noise from neighboring rooms and the street also crops up, so light sleepers should request a quieter room. Parking is independently operated next door and costs extra. We'd skip it if you want fresh boutique styling, reliable hush or a hotel directly beside the Duomo.

  • Best for: sightseers happy using public transport; business travelers; travelers who prioritize breakfast and helpful staff

  • Watch out for: tired décor in some rooms; variable sound insulation; paid, independently operated parking

  • Location: Near Porta Venezia and Repubblica metro stations, with shops, restaurants and the park nearby.

  • Rooms: Generally comfortable, with hardwood floors; dated finishes and noise are recurring caveats.

  • Cleanliness: Mostly praised across sites, despite occasional housekeeping and maintenance lapses.

  • Service: A consistent strength overall, especially the breakfast and restaurant staff.

  • Amenities: Restaurant, bar and free Wi-Fi; the nearby swimming pool is not part of the hotel.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking next door and pets incur additional charges; check whether your booking includes breakfast.
