#7 of 8 hotels in Navigli by Axel's take. Navigli is #5 of 11 places to stay in Milan. The best hotels in Navigli, ranked · Where to stay in Milan

Axel's take: 7.6/10

A useful Milan base, but maintenance falls short of its four-star promise. a practical 4-star city hotel with separate apartments near Navigli, scored for what it is.

Mercure Milano Solari is a practical 4-star near Navigli and Tortona, better for exploring Milan than spending time in the hotel. We'd consider it for the neighborhood restaurants, nearby metro and tram connections, and generally comfortable beds. Expedia guests repeatedly praise the reception team and cleanliness, while the larger apartments offer useful space for families.

The catch is inconsistent upkeep. Recent Accor and Expedia reviews repeatedly mention ineffective air-conditioning, alongside tired fittings and uneven housekeeping replenishment. Apartment layouts and kitchen equipment also draw mixed feedback, so confirm exactly which accommodation you're booking. Breakfast earns praise but isn't always included, and parking is outsourced nearby. It's a reasonable choice if location matters most; we'd skip it for a polished four-star experience or dependable cooling in warm weather.

Best for: travelers exploring Navigli and Tortona; city breaks using public transport; families wanting apartment space
Watch out for: recurring air-conditioning complaints; uneven maintenance and housekeeping; variable apartment layouts and equipment
Location: Near Navigli and Tortona, with Sant'Agostino metro and tram connections close by.
Rooms: Comfortable beds and spacious apartment options, but condition and layouts vary.
Cleanliness: Strong overall guest ratings, tempered by recent complaints about cleaning and replenishment.
Service: Reception often earns praise; problem handling is less consistent.
Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, breakfast buffet and a listed bar; check apartment kitchen equipment before booking.
Fees and surprises: Breakfast may cost extra; paid parking is outsourced to a nearby garage.
