Axel's take: 9.2/10

An excellent central Milan base, with standout hospitality rather than big-hotel facilities. a small, art-filled 4-star boutique hotel near Milan’s Duomo, scored for what it is.

Spadari is a small, art-filled 4-star near the Duomo, and a strong pick for travelers who value personal service over grand facilities. Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise its cleanliness, helpful staff and generous breakfast, including eggs cooked to order. The family-run atmosphere and deliberately slightly vintage interiors give it character without sacrificing comfort. For sightseeing on foot, it is exceptionally well placed.

The compromises are mostly scale: some rooms feel compact, and there is no pool, spa or gym. Choose your room category carefully if space or a balcony matters. Also check construction before booking: Via Spadari pavement works were scheduled to finish September 15, 2026, but completion is unconfirmed, and Expedia still flags neighboring-building noise. We'd skip it for a facilities-heavy stay; for a Milan city break, it delivers unusually well.

  • Best for: couples on a Milan city break; first-time visitors exploring on foot; travelers who prioritize personal service

  • Watch out for: some compact rooms; no pool, spa or gym; confirm nearby construction status

  • Location: An excellent sightseeing base, a short walk from the Duomo, Galleria and metro.

  • Rooms: Comfortable, individually decorated rooms; sizes vary, with balconies or terraces in selected categories.

  • Cleanliness: Consistently strong guest feedback across Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor.

  • Service: Warm, attentive staff are among the most consistently praised strengths.

  • Amenities: Well-liked breakfast, free Wi-Fi and minibar soft drinks; limited leisure facilities.

  • Fees and surprises: City tax is payable separately; no on-site parking, and nearby construction status needs checking.
