#5 of 9 hotels in Porta Romana by Axel's take. Porta Romana is #9 of 11 places to stay in Milan. The best hotels in Porta Romana, ranked · Where to stay in Milan
Axel's take: 8.0/10
A friendly, practical Milan base, provided you can live with compact rooms. a small, no-frills 3-star in Milan’s Porta Romana neighborhood, scored for what it is.
Hotel Piacenza is a small, no-frills 3-star in Porta Romana, and a strong pick for travelers who prioritize helpful staff and metro access over generous space. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcome, cleanliness and breakfast. Nearby restaurants and convenient access to Bocconi University make it particularly useful for short city breaks or university visits. We’d choose it for straightforward comfort rather than a hotel-centered holiday.
The main compromise is space: bedrooms, especially singles, and bathrooms can be tight. There’s no elevator, so request a ground-floor room if stairs are difficult. Some guests also describe worn finishes and noise, although recent feedback is predominantly positive. We’d skip it if spacious rooms, step-free access or consistently quiet surroundings are essential.
-

-
Watch out for: compact rooms and bathrooms; no elevator; some reports of noise and worn finishes
-

-
Cleanliness: Mostly positive recent feedback, supported by solid cleanliness ratings on Booking.com and Expedia.
-
Service: Helpful, welcoming staff are the most consistent strength across guest-review sites.
-
Amenities: Buffet breakfast, bar, free Wi-Fi and 24-hour reception; the official site places fitness and wellness facilities off-site.
-
Fees and surprises: City tax is payable at the property; parking is a paid nearby garage, not complimentary on-site parking.
