#3 of 7 hotels in Magenta & Sant'Ambrogio by Axel's take. Magenta & Sant'Ambrogio is #2 of 11 places to stay in Milan. The best hotels in Magenta & Sant'Ambrogio, ranked · Where to stay in Milan
Axel's take: 7.8/10
A handy central base with clean rooms, but space and soundproofing are compromises. a small, design-minded 4-star in Milan’s historic center, scored for what it is.
Hotel Mentana is a small, design-minded 4-star best treated as a comfortable base for exploring Milan, rather than a full-service luxury stay. The Duomo is roughly a 10–15-minute walk away, and the hotel says its rooms have been remodeled in recent years. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise cleanliness and helpful staff; recent Tripadvisor feedback also includes warm endorsements of the beds and bathrooms. We'd shortlist it for a short city break.
The compromises are room size and sound insulation. Several guests describe compact bedrooms, while Expedia and Tripadvisor reviews mention noise from neighboring rooms and corridors despite the quieter location. Breakfast generally earns good feedback, though not everyone finds the selection generous. Check whether it is included, and remember there is no on-site parking. We'd skip it if spacious rooms or reliably undisturbed sleep are priorities.
