#2 of 9 hotels in Porta Venezia by Axel's take. Porta Venezia is #7 of 11 places to stay in Milan. The best hotels in Porta Venezia, ranked · Where to stay in Milan

Axel's take: 8.2/10

A strong Milan base for helpful service and transport, rather than spacious rooms. a comfortable independent 3-star beside Porta Venezia metro, scored for what it is.

Fenice is an independent 3-star on Corso Buenos Aires, and we'd choose it for a straightforward Milan city break. Porta Venezia metro is practically outside, with shopping and restaurants close by. Recent Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise cleanliness, helpful reception staff and a satisfying breakfast. It delivers the essentials well without pretending to be a destination hotel.

The main compromise is the bedroom: several guests describe compact spaces, and some find the furnishings old-fashioned. The hotel says Superior rooms are fully refurbished, so room category matters. Street-facing rooms can pick up traffic noise; request an inward-facing room if sleep is a priority. We'd skip it if generous space or contemporary design matters more than location and friendly service. Check breakfast inclusion when booking, as listings differ.

Best for: couples on sightseeing breaks; shopping-focused travelers; travelers using public transport
Watch out for: compact rooms and variable decor; traffic noise in street-facing rooms; breakfast inclusion varies by listing
Location: Excellent Porta Venezia access, with metro, shops and restaurants steps away.
Rooms: Compact Classic rooms; the hotel describes Superior rooms as fully refurbished.
Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest feedback and category ratings.
Service: Reception staff repeatedly earn praise for practical help and restaurant recommendations.
Amenities: Buffet breakfast, lounge bar, free Wi-Fi, elevator and 24-hour reception.
Fees and surprises: Nearby garage parking costs extra; city tax applies, and breakfast inclusion needs checking.
