#2 of 2 hotels in Harbor Town & the Pinch by Axel's take. Harbor Town & the Pinch is #4 of 7 places to stay in Memphis. The best hotels in Harbor Town & the Pinch, ranked · Where to stay in Memphis
Axel's take: 8.5/10
Go for the cabin-style rooms and Pyramid experience, not flawless five-star service. An upscale wilderness-themed hotel inside Memphis’s Bass Pro Shops Pyramid, scored for what it is.
Big Cypress Lodge is an upscale wilderness-themed hotel inside the Bass Pro Shops Pyramid, and we'd pick it for a family getaway rather than traditional five-star pampering. Tripadvisor and Hotels.com guests repeatedly praise the spacious cabin-style rooms, cleanliness and friendly staff. Electric fireplaces, generous bathrooms and select balconies overlooking the indoor swamp make the setting more than a gimmick. Included observation-deck access and a downtown shuttle add practical appeal.
The trade-off is that the luxury promise outpaces consistency: recent Tripadvisor guests describe housekeeping gaps and uneven restaurant service, despite plenty of enthusiastic staff reviews elsewhere. Interior-facing rooms overlook the store, while exterior deluxe rooms have no balconies and may have obstructed views. Budget for resort and overnight parking fees, plus breakfast. There's no swimming pool, and guests report the former spa has closed. We'd skip it for a spa break or reliably polished luxury.
-
Best for: Families drawn to the Pyramid experience; Bass Pro Shops enthusiasts; Couples wanting an unusual short stay
-
Watch out for: Resort fee, paid parking and extra-cost breakfast; Room outlook and balcony vary by category; No pool; former spa reported closed

-
Rooms: Spacious rustic décor and electric fireplaces; exterior deluxe rooms lack balconies.
-
Cleanliness: Strong overall guest ratings, with occasional housekeeping lapses rather than a defining cleanliness problem.

-
Amenities: Observation-deck access, gym, bowling and family activities; no swimming pool, and guests report the spa has closed.
-
