Axel's take: 6.2/10
A handy downtown address, but maintenance problems make it a compromise. An aging 3-star chain hotel in downtown Memphis, scored for what it is.
This aging 3-star Holiday Inn is a location-first choice, not a dependable all-rounder. Across from the Peabody and an easy walk from Beale Street, AutoZone Park and FedExForum, it makes downtown outings straightforward. Recent Expedia guests often praise helpful staff, comfortable beds and clean rooms, but the overall picture across Expedia, Tripadvisor and Booking.com is mixed rather than reassuring.
The main weakness is upkeep: guests repeatedly report unreliable hot water, heating or air-conditioning problems, and tired bathrooms. Housekeeping and front-desk experiences also vary, despite plenty of staff praise. These are meaningful shortcomings even for a straightforward chain hotel. IHG confirms there is no pool, despite older booking-site descriptions; on-site parking is paid valet, and breakfast costs extra unless included in your booking. We'd consider it for a short, location-focused visit, but skip it if reliable room basics or a pool matter most.
