A strong sporting-weekend base, with comfortable rooms and genuinely helpful staff. a contemporary five-star hotel beside the MCG and Fitzroy Gardens, scored for what it is.

Pullman East Melbourne, formerly Pullman Melbourne on the Park, is a contemporary five-star hotel we'd choose for the MCG, tennis or a concert rather than a secluded luxury escape. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise clean, comfortable rooms and welcoming staff; park and stadium views add appeal. The refurbished bedrooms, heated outdoor pool and easy tram access make it a strong all-round base just outside the CBD.

The trade-off is the event-day atmosphere. Recent Tripadvisor guests describe crowded, noisy bars and breakfast queues, while parking spaces are tight and charged separately. Breakfast generally earns praise, but isn't universally considered good value unless included. We'd happily recommend it for an event-focused weekend; we'd look elsewhere for intimate luxury or a reliably quiet bar after a big match.
