#4 of 7 hotels in Docklands by Axel's take. Docklands is #8 of 9 places to stay in Melbourne. The best hotels in Docklands, ranked · Where to stay in Melbourne

Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong self-catering base with helpful staff, but check apartment size and pool status. a 4-star serviced-apartment stay on Melbourne’s city fringe, scored for what it is.

Lumina Suites is a 4-star serviced-apartment stay in West Melbourne, and a strong pick for travelers who value a kitchen and laundry over full hotel service. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the helpful staff, cleanliness and convenient access to Southern Cross, trams and Queen Victoria Market. We’d choose it for a practical city break or longer stay, especially when separate bedrooms matter.

The trade-offs are worth knowing: recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests describe some bedrooms as smaller than photos suggest, and mattress comfort gets mixed feedback. Housekeeping is weekly rather than daily, parking costs extra, and a security deposit applies. The indoor pool had maintenance-related disruption in June–July 2026; confirm its current condition if swimming is central to your plans. Skip it if you want daily servicing or reliably spacious bedrooms.

  • Best for: families wanting separate bedrooms; longer self-catering stays; travelers using Southern Cross and SkyBus

  • Watch out for: some bedrooms smaller than photos suggest; weekly rather than daily housekeeping; confirm pool condition before booking

  • Location: Walkable city-fringe base for Southern Cross, trams, Queen Victoria Market and Marvel Stadium.

  • Rooms: Equipped kitchens and in-room laundry; layouts vary, with some compact bedrooms and mixed mattress feedback.

  • Cleanliness: Strong overall cleanliness ratings across Booking.com and Expedia, despite occasional individual lapses.

  • Service: Friendly, accommodating reception staff are a consistent strength across guest-review sites.

  • Amenities: Indoor pool and gym; pool maintenance disrupted some June–July 2026 stays, while the official site advertises free Wi-Fi.

  • Fees and surprises: Paid parking and a security deposit; housekeeping is weekly, and late arrivals should confirm check-in arrangements.
