#1 of 9 hotels in CBD by Axel's take. CBD is #1 of 9 places to stay in Melbourne. The best hotels in CBD, ranked · Where to stay in Melbourne

Axel's take: 9.1/10

A strong luxury pick for warm service, spotless rooms and a quieter city base. a boutique five-star hotel with serviced apartments on Melbourne’s CBD edge, scored for what it is.

Lanson Place Parliament Gardens is a boutique five-star hotel combining a restored printing works with a modern tower and serviced apartments. It’s a strong pick for travelers who want city access without staying in the busiest blocks. Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor guests consistently praise the cleanliness, welcoming staff and comfortable rooms. The indoor heated pool, spa pool and well-equipped gym add substance beyond the handsome interiors.

Choose your room carefully: standard rooms are not sprawling, and garden views aren’t universal. Breakfast earns mixed reactions, while a few recent guests describe housekeeping or service lapses below five-star expectations. An August 2026 Tripadvisor guest also reported nearby construction noise; check whether that work affects your room. We’d choose it for theater trips or longer apartment stays, but skip it if a guaranteed panorama is essential.

Best for: couples on theater weekends; longer stays in serviced apartments; travelers wanting a quieter CBD-edge base
Watch out for: room sizes and outlooks vary; breakfast divides opinion; nearby construction reported in August 2026
Location: Opposite Parliament Gardens, with Parliament Station, trams and Princess Theatre a short walk away.
Rooms: Modern rooms and apartments; entry rooms are 28–32 square meters, so confirm space and outlook.
Cleanliness: A standout strength across Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor feedback.
Service: Warm, helpful staff dominate reviews, with occasional reports of uneven follow-through.
Amenities: Indoor heated pool, spa pool, gym and Chronicle 502 restaurant and bar.
Fees and surprises: Breakfast may cost extra; parking is paid and off-site at nearby Wilson Parking.
