#4 of 8 hotels in Ben Youssef & Northern Medina by Axel's take. Ben Youssef & Northern Medina is #3 of 8 places to stay in Marrakech. The best hotels in Ben Youssef & Northern Medina, ranked · Where to stay in Marrakech
Axel's take: 9.2/10
Personal service and peaceful courtyards make this tiny medina riad a strong pick. a small, mid-range boutique riad in Marrakech’s medina, scored for what it is.
Riad Safa is a six-room, mid-range boutique riad whose strengths are personal service, cleanliness and a calm setting within the medina. We'd put it high on the list for couples who prefer a small guesthouse to a full-service hotel. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise Abdel and the team, breakfasts and in-house dinners; Booking.com’s strong cleanliness and staff ratings reinforce that picture. The rooftop terrace, courtyard plunge pool and hammam give it more appeal than a basic sightseeing base.
The compromises are mostly about space and access. Some guests find rooms small, and the pools are for cooling off rather than swimming. Taxis cannot reach the door, so arrange arrival assistance, especially with luggage. We'd skip it for step-free access or large-hotel facilities. Rooms deliberately have no televisions, and children under ten are normally not accepted.
-
Best for: couples exploring the medina; travelers who value personal service; small-guesthouse stays
-
Watch out for: walk from taxi drop-off; no elevator; some compact rooms and small plunge pools; children under ten normally not accepted
-
Location: Walkable medina base away from the busiest square; arrange help navigating the final alleys.
-
Rooms: Six individually decorated rooms with private bathrooms; some are compact, and none has a television.
-
Cleanliness: A consistent strength in guest feedback, supported by strong Booking.com and Expedia cleanliness ratings.
-
Service: Warm, attentive help with transfers, meals and excursions is the most consistent praise.
-
Amenities: Rooftop terrace, two plunge pools, hammam, massage treatments, in-house dining and free Wi-Fi.
-
Fees and surprises: Airport transfers, spa treatments and parking cost extra; under-ten exceptions require exclusive rental.
