Riad Kbour & Chou is an intimate, upscale riad rather than a conventional full-service hotel, and we'd put it high on the list for a characterful Marrakech stay. Its planted courtyard, individually decorated rooms and rooftop terrace give it real personality. Recent Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise attentive staff, excellent breakfasts and memorable Moroccan dinners; cleanliness and room comfort are particularly strong, too.

The main compromise is the northern-medina location.
