Axel's take: 8.8/10

A strong medina base where thoughtful design and warm service outweigh compact rooms. An upscale traditional riad with a rooftop restaurant and hammam in Marrakech’s medina, scored for what it is.

Dar Justo is an upscale boutique riad, not a conventional full-service hotel, and it’s a strong pick for exploring Marrakech on foot. Its restored Moroccan architecture, courtyard pool and planted rooftop give it character beyond the bedrooms. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the cleanliness, welcoming staff and central-but-tucked-away setting near Jemaa el-Fnaa. The rooftop restaurant and Le Bain Bleu hammam make staying in appealing, too.

The main compromises are practical: several guests describe small rooms, some find them dark, and the alleyway approach takes getting used to with luggage. Breakfast feedback varies rather than being uniformly enthusiastic. There’s no elevator, so we’d skip it if step-free access or spacious, bright rooms are priorities. Otherwise, it’s a convincing choice for couples who want medina atmosphere with comfortable surroundings.

• Best for: Couples exploring the medina; Travelers who enjoy traditional riads; Hammam and rooftop-dining fans

• Watch out for: Some rooms are small or dark; Alleyway arrival with luggage; No elevator

• Location: Central Mouassine setting near the souks and Jemaa el-Fnaa; arrange arrival guidance for the final walk.

• Rooms: Characterful and generally comfortable, but size and daylight vary; choose the room category carefully.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent Tripadvisor and Expedia feedback, backed by strong Booking.com cleanliness ratings.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff earn repeated praise; confirm transfers and spa appointments ahead of time.

• Amenities: Small courtyard pool, rooftop restaurant and bar, terraces, Wi-Fi and Le Bain Bleu hammam and treatments.

• Fees and surprises: City tax is payable locally; confirm transfer inclusions, as the official site advertises complimentary pickup while Expedia lists a surcharge.
