Riad Africa is a traditional mid-range riad guesthouse, not the luxury hotel its marketing sometimes suggests. It’s a good pick for exploring the medina on foot, with Jemaa el-Fnaa and the palaces nearby. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, while rooftop breakfasts and two courtyard plunge pools give it more appeal than a basic sightseeing base.

The trade-off is uneven room quality. Recent reviews mention cramped budget rooms, noise around reception and courtyards, and occasional maintenance or housekeeping lapses, alongside plenty of comfortable, clean stays. The hotel advertises winter pool heating, but several 2026 guests found the water cold. Arrange help finding the entrance: taxis cannot reach the door. We’d choose it for character and location, but skip it for dependable luxury, guaranteed quiet or a proper swimming pool.
