#6 of 9 hotels in Kasbah & Mellah by Axel's take. Kasbah & Mellah is #4 of 8 places to stay in Marrakech. The best hotels in Kasbah & Mellah, ranked · Where to stay in Marrakech

Axel's take: 8.5/10

A characterful medina base, with strong hospitality but some billing and rooftop caveats. a small, traditional mid-range riad beside El Badi Palace, scored for what it is.

Riad Carina is a small, traditional mid-range guesthouse, not a full-service resort. We'd pick it for its rustic Berber interiors and southern-medina location beside El Badi Palace. Tripadvisor and Booking.com guests consistently praise cleanliness, helpful staff and comfortable rooms; overall ratings remain strong across both sites and Expedia. It's a convincing choice for sightseeing with more character than a standard hotel.

The rooftop plunge pool is a bonus, but don't make it the reason to book: guests reported neighboring palace construction disrupting the terrace in October 2025 and April 2026, although September 2026 feedback is positive. Confirm conditions before arrival. Breakfast can be bread-heavy, and several guests describe disputed charges or cash-payment surprises. We'd get taxes and payment arrangements in writing, and skip it if dependable pool time or step-free access is essential.

  • Best for: couples seeking traditional riad character; travelers exploring the medina on foot; small-guesthouse fans

  • Watch out for: confirm rooftop conditions after reported palace construction; clarify taxes and card payments before arrival; stairs and no elevator

  • Location: Beside El Badi Palace, with medina sights, restaurants and nearby taxis within walking reach.

  • Rooms: Individually decorated, rustic rooms with air conditioning; layouts vary, so choose the room category carefully.

  • Cleanliness: A clear strength overall, supported by strong cleanliness scores on Booking.com and Expedia.

  • Service: Warm, helpful staff dominate feedback, though some guests report poor handling of billing or booking problems.

  • Amenities: Breakfast, Moroccan meals and a rooftop plunge pool; no elevator, and breakfast variety gets mixed feedback.

  • Fees and surprises: City tax, transfers and parking cost extra; confirm payment methods and whether palace works still affect the terrace.
