#9 of 9 hotels in Kasbah & Mellah by Axel's take. Kasbah & Mellah is #4 of 8 places to stay in Marrakech. The best hotels in Kasbah & Mellah, ranked · Where to stay in Marrakech

Axel's take: 7.3/10

Good budget basics and a pleasant rooftop, but booking reliability needs caution. A basic backpacker hostel in Marrakech’s old Kasbah, scored for what it is.

Dream Belko is a basic backpacker hostel in the old Kasbah, with dorms, some private rooms and rooftop terraces rather than hotel-style comforts. It’s a reasonable pick for flexible travelers prioritizing location and value. Booking.com guests generally praise cleanliness and helpful staff, while recent Expedia reviews highlight breakfast and the rooftop. The overall picture is positive, though not consistently excellent.

The trade-offs are limited storage, variable privacy and occasional noise. Recent feedback is divided on the atmosphere: some guests describe welcoming hosts, others find it uncomfortable or less social than expected. A March 2026 Tripadvisor guest reported overbooking and being split from companions; Hostelworld also flags booking problems. Confirm your room arrangement, breakfast inclusion and kitchen charges before arrival. We’d skip it for a quiet couples’ stay or if secure storage and predictable room allocation are essential.

Best for: Flexible backpackers on a budget; Travelers exploring the Kasbah on foot
Watch out for: Reported overbooking and room changes; Limited storage and variable privacy; Kitchen charges and nighttime noise
Location: Old Kasbah setting, within walking distance of Jemaa el-Fnaa and nearby historic sights.
Rooms: Mixed and female dorms plus private options; confirm bathroom arrangements, air-conditioning and secure storage.
Cleanliness: Generally praised across booking sites, although individual guests report bedding shortcomings.
Service: Helpful hosts are a recurring strength, but recent accounts of staff interactions are mixed.
Amenities: Rooftop terraces, Wi-Fi and breakfast are supported by guest feedback; pool, lift and accessibility claims remain unverified.
Fees and surprises: Hostelworld lists cash payment and separate city tax; confirm breakfast inclusion, kitchen access and laundry charges.
