Axel's take: 7.7/10

A practical arena base with friendly staff, but building noise compromises the bargain. a no-frills budget hotel near AO Arena, scored for what it is.

Travelodge Manchester Central Arena is a no-frills budget hotel on the edge of the city centre, roughly ten minutes’ walk from AO Arena. It’s a good pick for a short concert trip rather than a hotel-led break. Recent Tripadvisor and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, clean rooms and good value. The on-site bar-café makes breakfast and an easy evening meal convenient.

The main catch is nearby building work: several 2026 reviews describe early starts and intrusive noise, alongside complaints about soundproofing. Room condition is less consistent than the strongest reviews suggest, with recurring reports of bathroom drainage or water-pressure problems. Wi-Fi is free for only 30 minutes daily, and parking is paid and off-site. We’d skip it for a lie-in or a longer stay where quiet matters.

• Best for: budget-conscious concertgoers; short city breaks; travelers happy with simple facilities

• Watch out for: nearby building works and early-morning noise; variable bathroom maintenance; paid Wi-Fi after 30 minutes and off-site parking

• Location: City-centre edge, convenient for AO Arena and within walking distance of Victoria station and shopping.

• Rooms: Simple and generally comfortable; some recent guests report dated fittings, weak showers and blocked drains.

• Cleanliness: Positive overall, though recent reviews include occasional lapses and bathroom odors.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength, particularly at breakfast.

• Amenities: Bar-café, paid breakfast, family and accessible rooms, lifts and round-the-clock staffing.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast costs extra; Wi-Fi is chargeable after 30 minutes daily, parking is off-site, and 2026 guests report neighboring construction.
