Axel's take: 8.0/10

Generous apartments and a handy location, but not consistently five-star. an upscale aparthotel near Manchester Cathedral and AO Arena, scored for what it is.

CitySuites II is an upscale aparthotel rather than a traditional five-star hotel, and we'd choose it for apartment space and convenience over luxury service. Fully equipped kitchens make self-catering practical, while Manchester Cathedral, shopping and AO Arena are within easy walking distance. Expedia guests are overwhelmingly positive about cleanliness, spacious rooms and welcoming staff; Tripadvisor's verdict is more mixed.

The trade-offs matter: guests repeatedly mention street or railway noise, firm beds and slow breakfast service. Standard short stays don't include housekeeping. September 2026 reviews also report swimming-pool, hot-tub and steam-room outages; current availability needs checking before booking a swim-focused break. It's a strong option for families and longer stays, but we'd skip it for guaranteed spa time or polished, full-service luxury.

• Best for: families wanting apartment space; self-catering city stays; AO Arena concertgoers

• Watch out for: street and railway noise in some apartments; recent pool and spa outages—confirm availability; no standard housekeeping on short stays

• Location: Walkable for the cathedral, AO Arena and central shopping, with Exchange Square trams nearby.

• Rooms: Spacious, well-equipped apartments; some guests find beds very firm and sound insulation disappointing.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, though some September 2026 guests report stained upholstery and worn interiors.

• Service: Friendly reception earns frequent praise; breakfast waits and problem handling are less consistent.

• Amenities: Indoor pool, hot tub, steam room and gym advertised; September 2026 guests report several leisure-facility outages.

• Fees and surprises: Paid nearby parking, a breakage deposit and breakfast unless included; extra housekeeping costs more.
