Axel's take: 8.0/10

A strong concert-night choice, but check pool charges and expect some noise. a refurbished 4-star chain hotel beside AO Arena, scored for what it is.

This refurbished 4-star is a strong pick for AO Arena concerts and arrivals at Manchester Victoria, rather than a characterful Manchester escape. Radisson relaunched it in May 2025, and the bright, modern rooms are a clear strength. Expedia and Agoda guests repeatedly praise comfortable beds, cleanliness and helpful staff. The indoor pool, sauna and steam room add appeal, while the hotel's verified net-zero operations give sustainability-minded travelers another reason to consider it.

The catches matter: Standard Room bookings now pay extra for the pool, sauna and steam room, although the gym remains free. Tripadvisor reviews repeatedly mention corridor noise and slamming doors, with some summer guests also reporting ineffective air conditioning. Housekeeping and service attract more mixed feedback there than on Expedia. We'd choose it for a practical city break, but light sleepers and anyone expecting an inclusive spa stay should look elsewhere.

• Best for: AO Arena concertgoers; rail travelers using Manchester Victoria; sustainability-minded city breakers

• Watch out for: Pool, sauna and steam room cost extra with Standard Rooms; Corridor noise and slamming doors; Some reports of ineffective air conditioning

• Location: Excellent for AO Arena and Victoria; shops and restaurants are a short walk away.

• Rooms: Modern rooms following the 2025 refurbishment; sound insulation and cooling draw some complaints.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback on Expedia and Agoda, tempered by recurring housekeeping lapses on Tripadvisor.

• Service: Usually praised as helpful, though Tripadvisor shows uneven reception and follow-through.

• Amenities: Indoor pool, sauna, steam room, free gym, spa treatments, restaurant and terrace; pool can get busy.

• Fees and surprises: Standard Room leisure-access surcharge since February 1, 2026; City Visitor Charge and paid off-site parking; cashless hotel.
