Hotels in Madrida Madrid-themed 4-star city hotel just off Gran Vía
8.5/10
A strong central Madrid base, with reliable comfort but imperfect soundproofing.
Grupotel Mayorazgo is a Madrid-themed 4-star just off Gran Vía, and we'd shortlist it for sightseeing and theatre trips. Its individually decorated rooms give it more personality than a standard chain hotel. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise cleanliness, helpful staff and the generous breakfast buffet; the overall ratings back up that positive picture. You're paying for a genuinely convenient base, with Plaza de España and Santo Domingo metro stations nearby.
The main compromise is quiet: several recent guests report hearing neighboring rooms or early housekeeping. Hotel renovation work also appears in spring and summer 2026 reviews, without a verified completion date, so confirm the current situation before booking. Parking costs extra, and rooftop bar hours merit checking. We'd skip it if uninterrupted sleep or extensive leisure facilities matter more than central convenience.

Best for: first-time Madrid sightseeing; theatre and shopping weekends; travelers prioritizing location and cleanliness
Watch out for: sound carries between some rooms; 2026 renovation work: confirm current status; paid parking and limited rooftop bar hours
Location: Just off Gran Vía, close to theatres, Plaza de España and two metro stations.
Rooms: Madrid-themed décor and comfortable beds; soundproofing draws repeated criticism.
Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com, Expedia and recent Trip.com feedback.
Service: Staff are widely praised for friendliness, helpfulness and efficient check-in.
Amenities: Breakfast buffet, GastroVía 61 restaurant, Retiro Bar and a rooftop terrace.
Fees and surprises: Parking and some breakfast plans cost extra; confirm renovation status and terrace bar hours.
