Axel's take: 7.2/10

Useful budget extras, but tired rooms and recurring odors limit the appeal. a budget chain hotel on Madison’s car-oriented west side, scored for what it is.

This budget chain hotel on Madison’s west side is a reasonable pick for drivers who want useful extras rather than polished surroundings. Free breakfast and parking, an indoor pool and hot tub, and in-room microwaves and refrigerators make it practical for short stays. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, breakfast and clean rooms; the overall picture is more positive than the harshest Tripadvisor reviews suggest.

The catch is consistency. Worn carpets, maintenance shortcomings and musty or smoke smells recur across reviews, despite Wyndham describing the property as newly renovated without giving a date. Cleanliness earns plenty of praise, but complaints about stained bedding mean it is not dependable across every room. Highway-facing rooms can also get traffic noise. We'd consider it for a practical west-side stop, but skip it for fresh interiors or a walkable downtown stay.

  • Best for: budget-conscious travelers with a car; short west-side business stays; families prioritizing a pool and breakfast

  • Watch out for: recurring musty or smoke odors; worn interiors and uneven housekeeping; traffic noise in highway-facing rooms

  • Location: Convenient Beltline access for west-side trips; a car is the practical choice for sightseeing.

  • Rooms: Microwaves and refrigerators are useful; carpets, furnishings and maintenance draw recurring criticism.

  • Cleanliness: Many recent guests report clean rooms, but odors and occasional stained bedding remain concerns.

  • Service: Helpful, welcoming staff are a recurring strength, especially in recent Expedia reviews.

  • Amenities: Free breakfast, indoor pool, hot tub, gym and bar; recent guests confirm using the pool and hot tub.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking is free; a damage deposit applies, and pets bring additional fees and a deposit.
