#6 of 6 hotels in Medical District by Axel's take. Medical District is #3 of 6 places to stay in Lubbock, Texas. The best hotels in Medical District, ranked · Where to stay in Lubbock, Texas

Axel's take: 4.8/10

Convenient for Texas Tech, but recurring room problems make this hard to recommend. a basic 2-star, exterior-corridor motel near Texas Tech, scored for what it is.

This basic 2-star motel near Texas Tech and Covenant Health offers a useful location, free parking and free Wi-Fi, but we'd look elsewhere first. Booking.com and Expedia both put overall guest satisfaction below six out of ten. Some guests praise clean rooms, helpful staff and parking outside the door, so experiences aren't uniformly bad.

The concern is the repeated condition of the rooms, not a lack of luxury. Expedia reviews through September 2026 describe dirty bathrooms, ineffective air-conditioning and damaged or missing door latches; pest complaints also appear on HotelPlanner. Those are basic expectations even for a budget motel. Several guests report a required cash deposit, so confirm the terms before arrival. We'd skip it for family trips, longer stays or any visit where dependable cleanliness and working essentials matter most.

  • Best for: budget travelers prioritizing proximity to Texas Tech; drivers wanting exterior room access

  • Watch out for: recurring cleanliness and maintenance complaints; guest reports of damaged door latches; cash damage deposit

  • Location: Convenient for Texas Tech University and Covenant Health.

  • Rooms: Basic exterior-corridor rooms; recent guests repeatedly report worn fittings and malfunctioning essentials.

  • Cleanliness: Some clean-room reports, but repeated bathroom, bedding and pest complaints undermine reliability.

  • Service: Staff receive some praise, though problem handling and supplies draw mixed feedback.

  • Amenities: Free parking, Wi-Fi and 24-hour reception; Wyndham advertises a light breakfast item and drinks.

  • Fees and surprises: Booking.com lists a refundable cash damage deposit; keep the receipt and confirm return conditions.
