#7 of 9 hotels in West Loop 289 & Milwaukee by Axel's take. West Loop 289 & Milwaukee is #5 of 6 places to stay in Lubbock, Texas. The best hotels in West Loop 289 & Milwaukee, ranked · Where to stay in Lubbock, Texas

Axel's take: 7.3/10

Friendly staff make this a reasonable budget stop, but maintenance is uneven. a no-frills 2-star hotel in west Lubbock, scored for what it is.

This no-frills 2-star in west Lubbock is a reasonable pick for a short, budget-minded stay with a car. Staff are its clearest strength: Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful service, and Booking.com’s staff rating backs that up. Free breakfast and parking add practical value, while comfortable beds and spacious rooms earn regular compliments. It’s a useful base for shopping and driving to Texas Tech, rather than a walkable campus stay.

The trade-off is inconsistent upkeep. Recent guests describe both clean, comfortable stays and rooms needing better cleaning or repairs. Pool closures recur in 2026 reviews, with renovation work mentioned in June; another June guest subsequently used the pool but found it cold. Confirm availability before promising children a swim. We’d skip it if polished rooms or dependable pool time matter more than budget.

Best for: budget-minded travelers with a car; short west-Lubbock stays; road-trip stopovers
Watch out for: uneven cleaning and room maintenance; recurring pool interruptions; conflicting published pet policies
Location: Convenient for west-side shopping and freeway access; plan to drive to Texas Tech and downtown.
Rooms: Comfort and space draw praise, but recent reports include faulty equipment and doors needing repairs.
Cleanliness: Many guests report clean rooms, though recent cleaning complaints make consistency a concern.
Service: Helpful, friendly staff are the most consistent positive across the evidence.
Amenities: Breakfast, parking and Wi-Fi are included; a gym, laundry and indoor pool are advertised, but confirm pool operation.
Fees and surprises: Expect a refundable incidental deposit; confirm payment requirements and pet acceptance because published policies conflict.
