#3 of 4 hotels in Downtown & Depot District by Axel's take. Downtown & Depot District is #2 of 6 places to stay in Lubbock, Texas. The best hotels in Downtown & Depot District, ranked · Where to stay in Lubbock, Texas

Axel's take: 7.7/10

Friendly service and a generous breakfast outweigh tired rooms, but not for everyone. an older mid-range downtown hotel with an atrium and suites, scored for what it is.

MCM Eleganté is an older mid-range downtown hotel that makes more sense for practical comforts than polished interiors. It’s a good pick for Civic Center events or Texas Tech visits if you value comfortable beds, helpful staff and a substantial included breakfast. Expedia and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise the service and omelet breakfast; free parking and an airport shuttle strengthen the value.

The catch is upkeep. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor reviews describe dated furnishings and bathrooms, with some maintenance and bathroom-cleaning misses. The broader cleanliness feedback is positive, so this isn’t a reason to dismiss the hotel outright, but room condition is less consistent than the hospitality. Groups can make the atrium lively, and busy-event check-in has drawn complaints. We’d skip it if modern finishes, quiet surroundings or reliably spotless bathrooms are priorities.

  • Best for: Civic Center event attendees; value-minded Texas Tech visitors; travelers who appreciate a full breakfast

  • Watch out for: Dated rooms and uneven maintenance; Occasional bathroom-cleaning misses; Group noise and busy-event check-in

  • Location: Downtown near the Civic Center, with Texas Tech a short drive away.

  • Rooms: Comfortable beds and separate-room suites, but furnishings and bathrooms show their age.

  • Cleanliness: Generally positive feedback, tempered by some recent bathroom-cleaning complaints.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength; event-day check-in can be less smooth.

  • Amenities: Included cooked-to-order breakfast, indoor pool, gym, restaurant, bar and airport shuttle.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking is free; pets and early check-in carry extra charges, and shuttle pickup requires coordination.
