#1 of 6 hotels in Texas Tech & Overton by Axel's take. Texas Tech & Overton is #1 of 6 places to stay in Lubbock, Texas. The best hotels in Texas Tech & Overton, ranked · Where to stay in Lubbock, Texas

Axel's take: 8.8/10

A strong Texas Tech base, with clean rooms and a few freeway-side compromises. a straightforward, limited-service chain hotel beside Texas Tech, scored for what it is.

This straightforward, limited-service Hampton is a strong pick for Texas Tech visits: comfortable rooms, consistently praised staff and breakfast included. Tripadvisor and Hotels.com guests repeatedly highlight cleanliness and spacious rooms, while Booking.com's overall feedback is similarly positive. The location across the freeway from campus is practical for university business and football weekends. An evening bar, gym and seasonal outdoor pool give it useful extras without changing its simple, dependable character.

The main catch is noise: some guests report loud traffic, so request a room away from the freeway. Sliding bathroom doors also draw complaints about privacy. Hilton confirms that parking costs extra, even though some older listings suggest otherwise; pets carry a fee too. We'd choose it for a convenient campus stay, but light sleepers and travelers sharing a room who want proper bathroom privacy should weigh those drawbacks.

  • Best for: Texas Tech visitors and football fans; Families wanting breakfast included; Travelers visiting nearby medical facilities

  • Watch out for: Traffic noise in freeway-facing rooms; Sliding bathroom doors limit privacy; Parking and pet fees

  • Location: Across the freeway from Texas Tech; Hilton puts the football stadium about a 15-minute walk away.

  • Rooms: Guests commonly praise the space and comfort; freeway exposure and sliding bathroom doors are the main compromises.

  • Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback across sites, despite occasional housekeeping misses.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk and breakfast staff are recurring strengths.

  • Amenities: Free hot breakfast and Wi-Fi, gym, evening bar and seasonal outdoor pool.

  • Fees and surprises: On-site parking is charged; dogs and cats are accepted with a nonrefundable fee.
