#4 of 6 hotels in Texas Tech & Overton by Axel's take. Texas Tech & Overton is #1 of 6 places to stay in Lubbock, Texas. The best hotels in Texas Tech & Overton, ranked · Where to stay in Lubbock, Texas

Axel's take: 8.2/10

A strong Texas Tech base, with clean rooms and a few practical trade-offs. a practical 3-star chain hotel near Texas Tech, scored for what it is.

This 3-star Courtyard is a strong pick for Texas Tech visits and short business trips. Recent Expedia guests and Booking.com reviews reproduced on Planet of Hotels repeatedly praise clean, comfortable rooms and helpful staff. It delivers the essentials well, with useful workspaces, a gym, an outdoor pool and a lobby Bistro rather than resort-style extras.

The trade-offs are mostly practical: parking and breakfast cost extra, and the freeway-side setting can bring road noise, although not every guest finds it disruptive. A July 2026 Tripadvisor guest reported broken equipment, but broader recent feedback remains positive rather than suggesting widespread disrepair. Marriott explicitly says there is no hot tub, despite older photos and guest references. We'd skip it if an indoor pool, included breakfast or reliably quiet surroundings are priorities.

Best for: Texas Tech visitors; Short business trips; Travelers prioritizing cleanliness
Watch out for: Possible freeway noise; Parking and breakfast cost extra; Outdoor pool only; no hot tub
Location: Convenient for Texas Tech and stadium visits; a car helps for exploring beyond campus.
Rooms: Generally comfortable and well kept, with useful workspaces; occasional maintenance complaints.
Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest feedback and major-site category ratings.
Service: Helpful, friendly staff earn repeated praise, including during busy periods.
Amenities: Outdoor pool, gym, Bistro and EV charging; no indoor pool or hot tub.
Fees and surprises: Paid parking and breakfast; Marriott lists pets as welcome with a nonrefundable fee, unlike Expedia.
